Safer Internet Day / Sábháilteacht ar líne
Safer Internet Day will be celebrated in over a hundred countries across the world on Tuesday 11th February 2020.
The theme this year is ‘Together for a better internet’.
Our pupils in school are continually learning ways to be responsible and safe while online. We discuss how useful the internet is and all the great things we can do online. Alongside this we explore the dangers and how we can protect ourselves while using the internet. Safer internet day is a great opportunity to find out more about how you can keep yourself and your family safer in the online world.
There are a number of resources online for parents. We would encourage you to take a few minutes to think about internet safety in your home and investigate some of the resources available.

In class discussions it is often apparent children are turning more to YouTube for entertainment. One way of managing this risk is to download YouTube for kids app.
There are a number of apps children have talked about and it is important that we understand the age restrictions on these.
We will be running our annual poster competition to raise awareness of this event. Year 1 and 2 will complete a colouring competition while Years 5-7 will design their own poster.
