WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CHILD IS UNWELL
IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION
PARENTS ARE ADVISED TO KEEP CHILDREN AT HOME IF THEY HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19
The main symptoms of Covid-19 are:
- a high temperature (above 37.9 °C)
- a new or continuous cough (this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours)
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste (this means they cannot smell or taste anything or things smell or taste different to normal)
If a pupil becomes unwell in school a parent or the person named as Contact 1 on data capture form will be contacted.
Routine temperature testing is not recommended as a reliable method for identifying Coronavirus. Temperatures will not be taken when your child enters the school building. However, if your child is unwell or showing signs of a fever their temperature will be taken using an infrared thermometer. If a child has a temperature of 37.9°C or over they will be removed from the classroom and taken to a designated room. Their temperature will be taken again after 12 minutes. If it remains over 37.9°C your child must be taken home immediately.
